Cruefest – What is Your Take On It?
The Colossal Motley Crue announcement has come and gone. Other than the announcement, of Motley Crue’s new single, Saints of Los Angeles getting an early release on ITunes, and as a download on the Rockband video games, there were no real surprises. Most of the information regarding Cruefest was leaked over a month ago.
Their was no real shock that Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt and Sixx A.M. was going to be on the road with Motley Crue.
Nikki Sixx said the criteria for picking bands for this new rock festival was a) each band had to have some hits, and b) they had to live the rock and roll and lifestyle.
I can’t deny the logic too much. If you are going to go on the road with Motley Crue, you will certainly have to be able to hold your own.
Buckcherry is a solid choice. Especially with their newfound success, with their CD 15.
Sixx A.M. is a no brainer choice since Nikki Sixx is a member of that band as well.
I have read comments by many people questioning the addition of Trapt, and Papa Roach. Most of them are not complimentary.
Aside from Motley Crue, all of the other acts on the bill came from the mid 90’s to the 00’s. This can’t be called an 80’s has been festival, as Motley Crue is the only act from that era of rock.
Is the addition of Trapt and Papa Roach smart marketing? It could be. I don’t know how big the fan bases are for those two bands, but this festival could draw three generations of rock fans, instead of teenagers and twenty somethings that might pay to see this show. Papa Roach and Trapt are two of a short list of rock acts that have managed to sell over a million albums since the year 2000.
Could this be the festival that brings rock back to the mainstream? Time will tell. It is certainly an interesting approach, and I applaud Motley Crue for trying to bring rock back to the masses.
As far as the Saints of Los Angeles single, I didn’t think it was all that great, but you know what, it gets in your head. I bet they will have a hit with this tune!
I will be in the stands when Cruefest hits Cincinnati. Are you going to go?
Please comment and tell me what you think about Cruefest!

btw, totally agree on the political views! And one other thing, why the hell to people have to get so unbelievably trashed at concerts???? It ruins the show for everyone else. There was a crew a few rows up from us that was just totally trashed, standing on the chairs. Blocking everyones view. Falling into everone else. Spilling beer on everyone. Burning people with cigarettes! It was just horrible! I was totally sober and enjoyed the show to the fullest but man i wanted to throw my empty water bottle at them asses! I HATE DRUNKS!!!!
Was also at Montage mtn. last night. I first have to say I in fact seen Bam Margera! He was at the sound board for a few songs while Sixx A.M. played. Got 3 pics of him!!! Maybe we can exchange emails and I can send the pics….As for the show, I am 30 years old. I took my 18 year old sister who was excited to see Crue. I liked crue back in the day but was not thrilled to see them. Besides the fact that last weekend on VH1 Classic aired a concert of theirs and Vince SUCKED! So it was no surprise when they took stage how HORRIBLE he sounded!!!!!! I cringed at some of the notes coming from his mouth!!!! I was more interested in seeing Trapt. Too bad their music DROWNED out the voice of the great singer 😦 Sixx A.M., I have only heard the one song they play on Sirius radio. They were impressive! I will probably be looking for their cd. Papa Roach…ROCKED! Buckcherry was also IMPRESSIVE. They are really good live. I liked the hits they have out but will probably also go get the cd too! So Vince (from crue) really needs to hang it up. The band was great the pyro was good and even the backup was good but him, na, he gotta go!!!!!
We attended Cruefest kast night at Montage Mountain. We got off to a rockin start even before get there as a purple Lambo passed us on the highway and we were hoping it was Bam Margera hiding the same way we were. My son was with us and LOVES Bam. Low and behold, while walking to the gates in the parking lot…he was driving right behind us to the VIP section! Unfortunatelt, we missed Trapt as we were waiting in the entrance line while they were playing. Six AM had a great sound and vocals. Papa Raoch was awesome…Jacoby energizes the crowd with their surprisingly harder edge when they play in concert. Buckcherry rocked it with all of their hit songs and of course, Motley Crue sent the concert into full party mania! They really put on a great show still after all these years. The only complaint I have is there are still some people who get very offended by the Bush bashing and in your face political retoric. My husband is due back in Iraq in January. They first time we noticed it on the screens, we let it slide…then it came several times afterward and then it started to t-us off. Had they just left their political voices off stage, the concert would have been perfect. I can’t understand while Hollywood can’t just still with their craft and feel just because their famous…you have an open mike. To me that makes no sense. they are the ones who make millions as the democrats are the ones who are going to tax their asses off and redistribute their hard earned dollar to the person next door who sit home jobless all day with their hand out. But in Hollywood, hating your president is the “cool thing” to do. It’s a shame they had to take that road and it’s disrespectful to their fan base, especially miltary troops and their families.
I am 21 years old and I went to Crue Fest last night in Cincy and it fucking rocked!! I didn’t go for a certain band, but for them all and a good time. And I had more than just a good time!! All the bands performed great. Some of the bands were new to me like Sixx AM and Trapt, but they rocked it out to. I am now a huge fan of Sixx AM!!! By far the best show I have ever been to and if it’s here next year, you can bet your ass I will be front row!! Tommy Lee was f’n hot too!!!
Went to the Cincy show last night, it was overall a good show. I never saw the other groups other than the Crue and felt as if they were the better performers.I went there mainly for Crue. Even though Vince’s voice didn’t carry the night, my night was made, when Buckcherry was on stage and Tommy was standing to the right of the stage and I waved to him and he waved back, now that made my night.
im headed to Cruefest tomarow and im a die hard Crue fan i do like some of buckcherry’s stuff i really like papa roach and traptand since Nikki Sixx is in Sixx A.M. i LOVE them cant wate for the show IT WILL ROCK!!!!!!!
IM going to the vancouver one on aug 11th, my uncle told me buckcheerry is crap but i guess ill find out. wtf is with the hating on papa roach GET A DAMN LIFE. So what if they only came out in 2000? hey are better than 99% of the other crapass bands out there today. so shove your biased comments up your ass and enjoy the showw!!
I have always been a crue fan, over 20 years now. But until they released St of LA, they weren’t relevant in todays market.
I have seen Papa Roach more times than I can count and they are awesome; put on a hellova live show. Seen Buckcherry a time or 2.
By putting all of these acts together in one (KICK AZZ) show, they managed to reach a market with a broad spectrum.
I went to WPB and took my kids, 15 and 17. We all had a blast. Except, Mom (me) wants to stay away from the mosh pit and kids want to head towards it. Most surprising was my 15 yo dtr, we had to drag her away from there. It was great that there was something for all rockers.
Going to the crue in dallas tonight. Glad to here the show kicks ass. A couple of people in our group have never been to a concert before period, I can’t wait to see the look on their faces when the crue gets going!!! How long did the Crue play?
loved the whole concery. i thought buckcherry was gonna ruin it but they didn’t. for all the people who hate papa roach and trapt you probably haven’t heard there music since headstrong and last resort. there new stuff is awesome.and if you just hate them fuck you. but anyway this was well worth it. i would definitly go again next year!
