Rock Gone Wild Cancelled?
Say it isn’t so…….
Bravewords.com has posted the following:
Sadly, in another example of “eyes too big for one’s stomach”, the organizers of Rock Gone Wild – the four-day outdoor event scheduled in Northwood, Iowa, set to host some of the ’80s biggest acts, including the likes TWISTED SISTER and GEORGE THOROGOOD as well as overseas metal stalwarts PRIMAL FEAR and SAXON – has cancelled, just two weeks from its scheduled August 20th debut.
The net has been abuzz with rumors since the weekend and the festival’s main page switched to discount pricing options last week (never a good sign). However, writing in the on-going thread on the page Natalie Wild (one of the organizers and listed as administrator of the fest’s forum) says, “Official RGW press release will be posted today (August 6th). Please understand that we have to wait for our legal department to advise how to move forward. Someone is going to pay for this, and it won’t be the fans or me, not two weeks out. Not after every penny of my life savings has gone into this, NOT when everything has been paid for. I don’t think anyone can feel what I’m feeling right now.”
More info as it becomes available.
I want my fucking money back every time I call the attorneys they say were still in litigation!!!!!!!!!! Fucking thieves!!!!!!!
I dontt care anymore about why or how!!!! I just want my money back NOW!!!! we had to pay up front to reserve our tickets so they can pay us back right now!!!!!!! Who do we write to get this done!!! I have already written the damn attorneys with NO response back.. This SUCKS
Marc, If you used a credit or debit card: Call your credit card company and explain to them that you purchased tix to an event that never took place. Tell them the date of purchase, the amount, and the event. They should give you an immediate credit in the amount of purchase on your card, pending an investigation into the cancellation of the event. Once it is verified, the funds should be restored to your account. I did this with citi card with a positive outcome. Most major card companies know about this event cancellation and should accomodate you. But d this ASAP s there may be a time limit! Hope this helps.
Unfortunately, I tried this several months ago. My credit card company can only go back to credit any situation 60 days. I bought tickets in May last year more than 60 days before the event was to take place. Thus I am not eligible for the refund through the credit card company. Guess that’s what I get for purchasing tickets and planning in advance.
Thats not all correct. The Festival grounds included the whole north parking lot of the DJ casino and surrounding area. The area churches did put pressure on the casino not to hold the festival due to the high number of sexually related matters they supposedly deal with on a weekly basis. They didn’t want the “sinners lounge” to be available so as to promote a sexually explicit atmosphere where rape or sexual crimes could take place. In their letter to the HOH, they stated they were trying to keep the women and children safe from these things (and all of us criminal, raper, degenerate rockers!) When in fact the parents should be much more concerned about child rape from the religious leaders themselves! RGW should include the church in their lawsuit for slander as well!
The Iowa racing and gaming commission will not allow the event to take place on Casino property that is licensed for gaming, it has nothing to do with any church. The whole event was to take place off of casino property anyway, it never was going to be on the licensed property. It was to take place on private land to the North and to the west of the casino property. The whole thing seams fishy, RGW is already being sued by the Algona ABATE property for breach of contract. I think they realized they could not pull this off, left ABATE and tried to make the casino the scape goat.
ABATE was just looking into going after RGW and has decided not to.
Well “THE CHURCH” has sent out a letter to House of Hair, “De Schnidor’s radio show” begging them not to support rock gone wild!!!!!
I bet the same DAMN church has approached the Casino and well, you can imagine… it probably went something a long the lines of “You host this Rock Gone Wild festival here, and our mighty lord will burn down your casino. wink wink”!
From what I heard, after reaching the final agreement and having everything in black & white, just all of a sudden, Diamond Jo Casino has gone back in their word and have simply told Rock Gone Wild, their festival cannot take place on their licensed premises! WOW!!!! I’ve been looking forward to this festival for faar toooo long, and can’t forgive the kinda god who lets a peace of shit pastor like the one down in Northwood to be his representative! Fuck you church for fuckin’ up my Rock Gone Festival!!!!!!!!! Hopefully Rock Gone Wild will sue the pants off the Casino and return our money!!
will somebody find out what is going on! I know it is not us, but how can they move it to a casino and then back out because of legal issues… who’s in charge here? I shelled out the extra coin to get the V.I.P. tix too. now what? I’m not gonna eat these… someone has got to reimburse me… this sucks!
Rumors have been swirling since yesterday, so we tried to find some facts. We went to local newspapers for some news.
We took the following quote from the Globe Gazette, a newspaper from Mason City in northern Iowa:
Food caterer Dean Homme, of All Star Foods in Hudson, Wis., said Thursday morning that he was called by the promoter of the event and told the event was cancelled.
And Tricia Byrnes, a booking agent for one of the bands, Ernie and the Automatics, received information Thursday morning that, “the event may not happen.” She said her company, Fine Productions, was told they would know within 48 hours if the four-day event would be held.
KIMT, Channel 3, out of Mason City, Iowa had this to report:
The General Manager of Diamond Jo Casino in Worth County tells us they’re not allowing Rock Gone Wild to happen on any of the casino’s licensed grounds.
So, it doesn’t look good. RGW promoters will issue a press release today, Friday Aug. 7th, at 4pm. Then we’ll all know for sure.
Voice mailbox (for the number on the RGW site) is full. SURPRISE!
Uh oh.

Nothing on Blabbermouth yet. I won’t believe it.
All ticket holders!
Call your credit card company and chargeback your order. This is probably the only way you will get your money back. They are trying to stall until all credit card transactions are over 6 months old and can not chargeback. After they stall you, I bet you that you will never see a dime.
Great advise! It worked perfectly! Refund/charge back on the way! Only way they can dispute is to prove that I went to the concert and we all know that we did NOT!
Thanks Terry!
Any tips, what do I need to do when I contact the credit card company to do chargeback??? hopefully not too late, is within 6 months.
