Soul Doctor – Blood Runs Cold (Release Year – 2007)
Almost from the opening guitar licks of the title track, Blood Runs Cold, I knew I was destined to like the new CD, by Germany’s Soul Doctor.
This CD blends the styles of several bands that I enjoy including Foreigner, Whitesnake, Bad Company and more.
If you know the band Fair Warning, you are already familiar with Tommy Heart’s vocals. I prefer his work in Soul Doctor. This is killer stuff.
It has been quite a while since I have heard a CD, where I have enjoyed ever song, and the new Soul Doctor disc delivers all the way through. With this disc, you get great singing, smoking guitar work, and songs that rock hard.
My digipak version of this disc included a bonus track called Let’s Zep, which is a nice medley of Led Zeppelin tunes stretched over 9 minutes. This was an extremely cool way to close out this disc.
My only complaint is that I didn’t get to hear this disc in 2007. If I had, it would have easily cracked my top 10 list.
Do not miss out on, one of the better discs of 2007. You can check out Soul Doctor at the band’s website Souldoctorrocks.com .

I really enjoyed this effort and you might recall it made my top of 2007 list.
Glad you like it too. There’s so much good music out there…that so many will never hear.

Decent enough album I thought when I reviewed it at http://www.getreadytorock.com/reviews2007/soul_doctor.htm . Plenty of similarities to Whitesnake circa the 1987 album, a bit of Bon Jovi in there too, a few Zeppelin-isms (and I’m not talking about the bonus track!). I gave it a 3.5/5 and finished the review with something like “highly enjoyable even if it does lack originality”. Certainly not a 9/10 in my book but worth a listen!
