Bluebeard - Deluxe With Reverb (Release Year- 2007)

Deluxe With Reverb 70’s style hard rock will always be a favorite of mine. The era that spawned great acts like Kansas, Boston, Deep Purple, Triumph and Yes, is one that will always be a favorite of mine.

Bluebeard is a band that didn’t get the recognition they deserved during this era of rock. They have shared the stage with several big name acts, but never gained the success and fame that the headlining acts gained. The band has a couple of discs that were preleased prior to Deluxe With Reverb, one of which Bad Dream captures hundreds of dollars for a copy on EBay in 2007.

After the tragic death of Bluebeard’s singer, Robert Barry Leach in 2004, the band regrouped to put together Deluxe With Reverb.

I must admit that I didn’t have any expectations with this record, and as a result, I was pleasantly surprised.

Deluxe With Reverb sounds like a 70’s classic rock record. With this set of tunes, you get heavy guitar riffs, melodic keyboards and excellent musicianship all the way through. The only issue that I found with this disc, is the production value is not what it should be. For an independent release, it is acceptable.

With a better produced record, and a little label support, this L.A. based rock group could be going places. Deluxe With Reverb is a solid debut, and is one that all classic rock fans need to pick up. You can preview several tracks at Bluebeard’s myspace page!
